I reached out to Champlin Guys after I began having issues with two different 2TB external hard drives. The drives contained years of data ranging from college coursework and software projects to music archives and personal photos.

I made the mistake of putting all of my eggs in one basket, with no backups anywhere, and was unable to get the data off of the drives myself.
Big data recovery labs will charge you thousands to recover your data, but Champlin Guys charged a miniscule fraction of that. Cost aside, they were extremely responsive and explained every step of the process. Best of all, they achieved 99% recovery, even on one of the drives that was in really rough shape.
Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend Champlin Guys, and will be turning to them first for any future data recovery needs.
Response from Champlin GuysThanks for the review Ethan, I’m really happy to hear you had a great experience. Thanks for trusting Champlin Guys Data Recovery with your external hard drives!

I don't normally write reviews. But I want you to hear this.
I am an author. I have made my living by writing books for almost 40 years. I have never been technologically sophisticated and I do not treat my data or storage systems with respect.

In the late 90's I undertook a project that resulted in me transcribing notes on an early generation Mac using a Macwrite program and storing those notes on various disks of various origins. When the book was done I threw those disks unprotected into a dusty drawer where they were exposed to heat and cold and probably spilled coffee. I thought I would never need them and don't even know why I saved them
A few years ago a publisher indicated interest in the book, which had since gone out of print. They also wanted some of the old raw material that had never been published. I had scribbled rough identification notes on some of the disks, but had not kept track of anything.
Desperate, I sent the pile of disks off to a highly reputable and not cheap data recovery service. After weeks of having the disks, they sent me back a jump drive with mostly unintelligible data and code. “The material is unrecoverable,” they told me. I accepted the defeat and gave up on the project.
Recently, publishers have again shown interest. Figuring it was worth one more shot, I found Tyler at Champlin Guys Data Recovery and brought him the disks. I expected I was just throwing money away, but decided it was worth the small investment to once and for all put my fantasies of finding that old manuscript to bed.
Within days, Tyler called me and said he had technologies that might be able to recover some of the material. Long story short, within a week he had done what no one else had been able to do: he had recovered all my material, identified it, organized it and collated it. Not only had he been able to get the data, he had given it back to me in a package that would have amazed a fortune 500 company with its professionalism. He had found lost manuscript fragments that I didn't even remember. And he had been able to give me a running document with narrative clarity and internal notations about areas of concern or unclarity. It was, on all levels, a brilliant job.
If you need professional data recovery of any sort, remember my experience: Tyler at Champlin Guys did in short order and for an incredibly reasonable fee what a highly respected national data recovery service had not been able to do. Put it this way: your data is not lost, it just hasn't been recovered. And Tyler at Champlin Guys is the one who can recover it. In terms of sheer talent and creative cyber skills, he is a miracle worker.

How quick is data recovery from Brooklyn Center?

About 12 miles away

Brooklyn Center is close enough that local drop-off is realistic. You can text first, describe the failed device, and we can tell you whether to bring the whole computer, just the drive, or the USB device.

About 15-20 minutes away

For most Brooklyn Center customers, the trip to Champlin is faster than shipping a device, waiting for intake, approving a quote, and waiting again for return shipping.

Coffee shop handoff

If meeting in Brooklyn Center is easier, Caribou Coffee - Brooklyn Center HQ at 3900 Lakebreeze Avenue N, Brooklyn Center, MN 55429 can be discussed as a public meetup point. Always text first so we can coordinate a time.

Drop off in Champlin by appointment

For Brooklyn Center customers, the most efficient option is usually a scheduled drop-off in Champlin. Once the device is here, there is more uninterrupted time to inspect it, image the drive when needed, and start recovery work instead of spending that time coordinating travel.

Text first with the device type, what happened, and what files matter most. We will confirm an appointment window, tell you whether to bring the whole computer or just the storage device, and make sure the handoff is quick when you arrive.

Pickup is still available when drop-off is not convenient. Brooklyn Center pickup or a public meetup around Brooklyn Center can still be arranged when that fits your schedule better. Drop-off just tends to be the fastest path when the files are urgent and you want the evaluation started as soon as possible.

Meetup and drop-off options for Brooklyn Center, MN customers

The easiest option is usually direct drop-off in Champlin by appointment. That gives us the most controlled handoff and lets us start the evaluation quickly. If you are coming from Brooklyn Center neighborhoods near Brooklyn Boulevard, Highway 100, I-694, and the Brooklyn Park border, the drive is generally short enough that you can drop the device off without turning it into a half-day errand.

When direct drop-off does not fit your schedule, a public coffee shop meetup can work well for small devices like USB flash drives, SD cards, external hard drives, laptop drives, or a laptop that needs file recovery. Data recovery services Brooklyn Center customers ask for most

Common data loss problems in Brooklyn Center, MN

External hard drive not detected Brooklyn Center

External drives often fail without warning. If your WD, Seagate, Toshiba, LaCie, or SanDisk drive is not showing up, asks to be formatted, clicks, beeps, or freezes File Explorer, stop repeated plugging and unplugging and get an evaluation.

Computer will not boot in Brooklyn Center

A Windows laptop, desktop PC, MacBook, iMac, or old family computer can fail while the data is still recoverable. We focus on the files, not selling you a new computer.

USB drive repair Brooklyn Center MN

People search for USB drive repair when the real need is file recovery. Bent connectors, snapped flash drives, unreadable thumb drives, and missing folders should be handled carefully.

Deleted file recovery Brooklyn Center

Deleted documents, family photos, school work, business folders, and reformatted drives are often recoverable if the device has not been heavily reused after the loss.

SSD not showing up Brooklyn Center

SSD and NVMe failures can be sudden. If the drive disappears from the computer, will not boot, or shows the wrong size, stop trying random repair tools before the situation gets worse.

SD card photo recovery Brooklyn Center

Camera cards and microSD cards can lose photos after formatting, corruption, card reader problems, or interrupted transfers. We recover photos, videos, and folders when the card can still be read safely.

Why Brooklyn Center customers choose a local data recovery option

Brooklyn Center is close enough to Champlin that local data recovery can be straightforward. If you are near Brooklyn Boulevard, Highway 100, I-694, or the Brooklyn Park border, the drive north is usually simpler than dealing with a national mail-in process.

Many Brooklyn Center calls come from everyday but serious situations: an external drive full of photos stopped showing up, a laptop from a home office will not boot, a USB stick has work files trapped on it, or an older desktop has documents that were never backed up.

Those cases need a practical first step. We evaluate the device, explain what type of recovery it appears to need, and keep the pricing simple. If the data can be recovered locally, great. If the device needs a specialized lab, you will hear that directly.

Before you bring the device from Brooklyn Center

Avoid repeated repair attempts on the same drive. If Windows asks to format the disk, do not click through. Text what happened, what files you need, and whether Champlin drop-off or a Brooklyn Center meetup fits your schedule.

Local file recovery for Brooklyn Center small business owners, students, and families

People who want small-business service

You want to hand your device to someone who cares about the outcome, not a chain-store counter where the person checking it in may never be the person doing the recovery work.

People who need speed

You do not want weeks of shipping, intake, quote approval, and upsells before anyone even looks at the drive. For many Brooklyn Center customers, a scheduled Champlin drop-off starts the evaluation much faster.

People who need honest advice

If a cleanroom lab is really needed, I will say so. If the job can be handled as a local recovery, I keep it local and explain the likely cost before paid work begins.

How Brooklyn Center drop-off and local meetup works

Quick Champlin drop-off

If you are in Brooklyn Center, you can usually drive to Champlin in about 15-20 minutes, depending on your exact starting point and traffic. For customers near Brooklyn Boulevard, Bass Lake Road, Xerxes Avenue, or the neighborhoods near Centerbrook, that is often easier than boxing up a drive and handing it to a shipping carrier.

Pickup or meetup option

If a full drive to Champlin is inconvenient, pickup may be available. We can also discuss a public Brooklyn Center coffee shop or another convenient handoff point so the handoff still feels local and straightforward.

Why customers prefer this

You get faster evaluation, direct communication, and less risk of falling into the weeks-long mail-in process many national recovery brands rely on. Text first and I will help you choose the simplest handoff.

Pricing for Brooklyn Center data recovery

I keep pricing simple because most local Brooklyn Center customers do not need a maze of tiers, rush fees, and hidden charges. The evaluation is free, and most standard local recoveries fall between $75 and $140.

You are not paying hourly rates over $200. You are not paying an expedited evaluation fee just to get someone to look at the drive. You are not paying a giant markup because a storefront shipped your device to a lab and added their own margin on top.
