FAQ
Here are the most common questions we get about recovery, pricing, privacy, and returning your data. If you don’t see your question, reach out — we’ll keep it simple.
Recovery & process
Do you really charge nothing if recovery fails?
Yes. Free evaluation, and no recovery = no charge.
How long does recovery take?
It depends on the device, failure type, and how much data you need. During evaluation we’ll give you a realistic expectation.
What should I do before bringing you the device?
If it’s a failing drive, stop using it to avoid overwriting data. If you hear clicking/grinding or the drive won’t spin, stop powering it on and contact us first.
What if the drive is physically damaged?
Some cases require a specialized recovery lab (clean-room work). We’ll tell you honestly during evaluation and won’t waste your time.
Pricing & delivery
How much does it cost if recovery is successful?
A successful recovery is a flat rate. See the Pricing page for the current amounts and add-ons.
How do you return my recovered data?
After a successful recovery, we can return your data via secure download links (up to 1TB) or transfer to your new device — whichever is easiest for you. Optional USB drives are available if requested.
What does “secure download links up to 1TB” mean?
We provide a private download link for your recovered files (up to 1TB total). We’ll share access instructions with you. For larger amounts or special cases, we’ll recommend the simplest destination-drive option.
What if I don’t have a destination drive?
No problem — we can use an optional USB drive, or you can provide an external drive. We’ll suggest the best option based on size.
Privacy & security
Will you look through my files?
We try to access as little as possible. Typically we verify recoverability and file integrity, then return the recovered data. Read our Privacy page for details.
Do you keep a copy of my data?
By default, we aim not to keep long-term copies. If we must stage data temporarily to complete recovery/transfer, we’ll minimize retention and delete it after delivery. See our Privacy page for specifics.
Can you securely wipe my old device?
Yes, as an optional add-on when feasible. A verified wipe requires the drive to be accessible. If the drive is failed or unreadable, we may not be able to perform a verified wipe.
Do you recycle devices?
Yes — we offer free drop-off for responsible recycling when feasible. Ask us what you have and we’ll confirm the best option.
