Deleted Files? Don’t Write Anything New

Deleted File Recovery for Photos, Documents, and More

If you accidentally deleted photos, documents, or an entire folder, stop using the device right away. The biggest risk after deletion is new data being written over the space where your files still exist.

Champlin Guys Data Recovery helps customers in Champlin and surrounding Northwest Metro areas recover deleted files from Windows PCs, external hard drives, USB flash drives, and SD cards.

Can Deleted Files Be Recovered?

In many cases, yes. When you delete a file, the device usually removes the “pointer” to it, but the data can remain until something else overwrites that space.

Recovery chances depend on the device type and what happened after deletion. A drive that’s been heavily used after deletion may have lower recovery odds.

Common “Accidental Deletion” Scenarios

Recycle Bin was emptied

Files may still be recoverable if the drive hasn’t been used much since.

Photos deleted from SD card

Stop using the card immediately to avoid overwriting deleted photos.

Folder deleted or moved

We can often locate and restore folder structures depending on the drive condition.

Important Note About SSDs

SSDs can be more difficult for deleted-file recovery because of a feature called TRIM, which may permanently remove deleted data quickly.

If the deleted files were on an SSD, time matters. Stop using the device and reach out as soon as possible.

SSD deleted-file limits

Recovering deleted files from solid-state drives is harder than from spinning drives. SSDs use a process called TRIM that can permanently clear deleted space in the background. The faster you stop using the drive after deletion, the more we can recover.
