I can’t believe my good fortune to find Tyler, who resurrected two Macintosh diskettes full of love letters that my late husband and I had written during our year of courtship and the first year of marriage 31 years ago. He was a writing professor and quite eloquent.

What a gift. The documents are now safely in apdf and docx formats and our family has appreciated reading them, romance and all. We will treasure them always.
Response from Champlin GuysWhat a great story, and I’m so happy you found some missing letters that you were able to enjoy. Thank you for sharing that and for the great review!

These guys are hands down the BEST to go to when you've lost your data! They're fast, communicative, and overall very nice people! Tyler picked up my old drive, and dropped off the new one with all of my data safe and sound in under a week!

I also love the fact that they do a flat rate (and extremely reasonable!) fee for data recovery and are very upfront with pricing, unlike the other companies I talked to. It cost less than I expected to get my data back, and to get a new hard drive to replace my broken one. Overall, amazing data recovery service. I'll be recommending these guys to anyone I know that needs their data recovered in the Twin Cities!
Response from Champlin GuysThanks Ross for the great review and for your recommendation! It’s rewarding to us to see a happy customer that got all their back quickly.

Wonderful service, affordable. Fast, thorough, and knowledgeable, having been able to get my old apple from paperweight to operational in a day.
Response from Champlin GuysThank you so much Autumn! I’m glad we were able to help bring your old MacBook back to life and we really appreciate the kind words.

Great service. Had a flash drive quit working. He was able to save ALL of my files when another company said they couldn’t save them. Quick turnaround. Would highly recommend.
Response from Champlin GuysThanks Ryan! USB flash drive recoveries can be tricky, so we’re really glad we could get all your files back when others couldn’t. Thanks for the great review and recommendation!

Common SSD recovery situations for Brooklyn Park customers

SSD not detected

If the BIOS or Windows no longer sees the drive at all, it can still be a recoverable situation depending on what caused the failure.

Computer won't boot

When a laptop won't start and the SSD is the likely cause, the files may still be intact — it's often the boot structure that failed, not all the data.

Mac SSD or APFS issue

MacBook SSD failures and APFS filesystem issues are a common type of case. These need a careful approach because APFS behaves differently than a standard Windows filesystem.

Deleted files on SSD

SSD TRIM complicates deleted file recovery, but it's not always hopeless depending on how quickly you stopped using the drive after the deletion.

External SSD issues

Portable SSDs that suddenly stop showing up or prompt formatting are recoverable in many cases — the failure mode determines the path.

BitLocker or encrypted SSD

If the SSD is BitLocker-protected or otherwise encrypted, recovery depends on having the recovery key. We can walk you through what's needed.

What not to do with a failing SSD

Don't keep the laptop running normally after the SSD fails

Brooklyn Park students and multi-laptop households often keep using a machine after an SSD issue starts showing up — running updates, saving files, continuing coursework. TRIM and wear-leveling on an SSD under continued use narrows the recovery window faster than most people realize. Stop using it and get it evaluated first.

Do not assume it works like a hard drive

SSDs fail differently. No clicking noise, no slowdown warning — and tools built for spinning drives won't always handle SSD failures correctly. The recovery approach is different.

How we approach SSD recovery

Brooklyn Park SSD cases often come in after continued laptop use following the first sign of failure — which is why establishing the failure type before adding more writes is the first step. Logical failures like deleted files, corrupted file systems, and APFS issues are often recoverable with the right tools. Controller failures or NAND failures are more serious but sometimes still workable. The important thing is evaluating what's actually wrong before choosing a recovery path, because SSD recovery done wrong can make the situation worse or trigger unnecessary writes to the device.

Why local SSD recovery makes sense for Brooklyn Park customers

SSD failures tend to be sudden, which means Brooklyn Park customers often contact us the same day it happened. Shipping a failed SSD to a national lab adds days of delay before anyone even looks at it. At 8–10 miles from Champlin, a local drop-off or meetup means the evaluation can start much sooner — and for many SSD failures, faster action genuinely improves the outcome. Brooklyn Park's proximity to Champlin means students and professionals near Edinburgh and the 85th Avenue corridor can often drop off their device and get an evaluation started the same day. We'll also give you a straight answer on whether the case needs specialized hardware before you spend money on anything.

SSD recovery FAQ for Brooklyn Park customers

Can you recover data from an SSD that won't boot?

Often yes. A drive that won't boot is frequently a boot structure problem, not a complete data loss — especially if the SSD itself is still detected.

Can deleted files be recovered from an SSD in Brooklyn Park?

It depends on TRIM status and how long ago the deletion happened. The sooner you stop using the drive, the better the chances.

Does SSD recovery cost more than hard drive recovery?

It depends on the failure type. Simple logical recoveries run the same flat $75–$140. Complex controller failures may be different — we'll tell you before any paid work starts.

What about Mac SSD and APFS recovery?

We work on Mac SSD cases including APFS filesystem issues, T2 chip complications, and MacBooks that won't boot. These need specific handling but are a common type of job.

Do I need to ship my SSD out of state from Brooklyn Park?

Not necessarily. Many SSD cases can be handled locally. We'll tell you honestly if specialized hardware is required.

How much does SSD data recovery cost?

Free evaluation. Most recoveries run $75–$140 flat. No recovery, no charge.
